We booked a Tranquil boat six months in advance. The day before we went out to go fish, got a call from Rafael. He told us not to be dockside until 2pm. the next day. As if that was just normal. After arguing that we had chartered a boat and intended to fish for a full day, Rafael agreed, but told us to be dockside at 430a.m. What he wasn't telling us is that he was double booked! We showed up at 430am. Caught salmon until about 1030. At that point Raphael ordered us to reel up. He then took us back to the dock in Craig. He didn't communicate that he was dropping us off, or anything. He simply told us to come back and meet him dockside at 2:30 as if that was just standard operating procedure! Needless to say, we were very upset. We showed up at 2:30. We waited. At about 345 his brother, Jesus shows up, drives us to another dock and we wait until 5pm. Raphael never even called to say, "I'll be late", he communicated nothing to us. We then steamed out past Cape Addington (hour trip from the dock) to fish for halibut in the roughest seas I've ever been in. And I've been in them - (x navy). The conditions on the way out to the open ocean were so bad, I assumed we must be headed to some sheltered cove. We weren't. We fished in life threatening swells. That is to say, he took my 76 year old father and his 76 year old buddy out to fish in dangerous, heavy swells. We only caught a couple of small halibut after all that. Rafael was less than apologetic. I'm fact, he seemed more "put out" to have to deal with us. This was a screwup of monumental proportions to us! When I got home and looked in my fish boxes, l clearly had other people's catch. We never caught any king, but I had about 10 lbs of it. Sorry to whoever lost out on that! Nor had we caught any rockfish, which I also had. Additionally, I had pink salmon bellies for which I have no use, nor did I ask for them. And I carried them back to Seattle!! My buddy had several bags of fish roe in his box. These guys were double booked. They were too stupid to simply be honest. We also belive they shorted us around 100 lbs of fish. Tranquil is an amateur operation to be avoided at all costs. Best fishing charters and lodging on Prince of Wales Island. Both salmon and halibut fishing was great and you couldn't ask for a better guide. Raf you're an amazing young man!!!
